The Giving Tree ministry’s aim is to provide Christmas to those who are less fortunate. The first week in November, four Lutheran schools in the inner city are contacted. Names of the entire family, and the children’s ages and sizes are requested. Name tags are made with first names only and placed on the tree (set up in the Fellowship Hall) by the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Members of Immanuel are asked to take a name off the tree, sign their name on the sign up sheet, buy a gift, wrap it, and place it under the tree at church by the due date. Sometimes, instead of a gift, families have received $100 Pick 'n Save gift cards to provide them with a Christmas dinner. There have also been times when a family in need has contacted the church. This mission has been blessed to provide to all those in need. For more information, contact Terry Krueger.
